SPY priced in unidades indexadas

The price of SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) expressed in unidades indexadas (UI), converted day by day at each date’s USD exchange rate. A way to see how it performed against Uruguayan inflation. The S&P 500: the 500 largest U.S. companies.

Why in unidades indexadas?

The UI tracks Uruguayan inflation. Measuring a dollar asset in UI shows how much local purchasing power it really represents over time: if the curve rises, it beat Uruguayan inflation; if it falls, inflation won.

How is it computed?

We take SPY’s adjusted close (with dividends reinvested, in dollars) and multiply it by that day’s USD→UI rate. We never apply today’s rate to past dates: every point uses the exchange rate of its own day.
