Why it matters

From a wish to a plan with a date

A concrete goal

Saving "in general" is hard. Giving your goal a name, an amount, and a date makes it reachable.

You know the exact number

No more guessing. We tell you how much to set aside each month to hit your goal on time.

Returns lend a hand

If you invest what you save, compound interest cuts how much you have to put in out of pocket.

Small steps, big goal

Breaking a big goal into monthly contributions makes it far less overwhelming.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I figure out how much to save each month?

Take your goal, subtract what you already have (plus what it earns over the timeframe), and divide the rest by the number of months. The calculator above does it for you, including compound interest.

Should I keep my savings invested?

If the timeframe is long, investing what you save lets compound interest cover part of the goal, so you contribute less. For short-term goals, prioritize safety and liquidity.

What if I cannot hit the goal with that contribution?

You have three levers: raise the monthly contribution, extend the timeframe, or increase the return (by investing). Try combinations in the calculator until it works.

What if I already have part of it saved?

Even better: the calculator subtracts your current savings (and what they earn over the timeframe) from the goal, so you know exactly how much more you need to contribute each month.

Is it free?

The calculator is free and requires no sign-up. Creating savings goals and tracking your progress is part of Daiku, with a free plan and Pro (14-day trial, no card).
